Review - Dr Wu Vanguard upgrades for Classics / Henkei Seekers - Starscream,Thundercracker and Skywarp

I bought these together with a number of other things week before last. To be honest, I don't know what they are called and really cannot be concerned enough to find out.

So, I will just call them Dr Wu Vanguard upgrades.

What they actually are, is in fact more interesting than what they are called. From the photo below, it can clearly been seen that these upgrades were meant for Classics / Henkei seekers - it is meant to be their arm lasers. What also stands out is the nice illustrations on each individual card - obviously meant to be Starscream, Thundercracker and Skywarp.

The back of the packaging also has bespoke art.

After I bought this set, I very quickly took out my Henkei seekers to try them on. The photo below shows the comparison between the existing cannon (on the right arm) and the Dr Wu Vanguard cannon (on left arm). The latter looks and functions much better than the original monstrosity of a cannon that was arm movement inhibiting.

Another shot of the seekers, this time with Dr Wu Vanguard cannons on both arms.

A shot to show that these upgrades allow the seekers to actually point their arms at enemies without having the wings obstructing the movement of the arm / cannon.

Starscream before...

... Starscream after. Much better.

Thundercracker before...

Thundercracker after

He looks more terrifying already.

Skywarp before (what monster cannons!)

Skywarp after (now elegant and sleek)

More Skywarp

Wow, now he can point his arm sideways (so much better than the epic fail that were the original cannons)

"Starscream, activate the Null Ray".

Day of the Devastator!

At US$20 for a set of 3, I do recommend the Dr Wu Vanguard upgrades for your seekers. Oh and they fit snugly too and does not fall off easily, something that my Henkei Thundercracker is guilty of.

Now will someone make some cluster bombs for the seekers' plane mode...

    1. I don't plan to use these as "missiles" for their plane mode. Don't think they will be suitable.

  2. The missiles seem to be molded on the cannon, but they do look really neat and show accurate. Great review!

    1. hullo! I bought them from a toy shop in Hong Kong, just cash and carried. Not sure whether they are available online, since I seldom shop online anymore.
